I know this topic has been done before, but Im looking for all you leopard owners to give me an idea as to how fast your little ones are growing. Also was wondering the health concerns with growing too fast, if there are any. I know weighing has many variables but this is Zenna's growth chart since we got her in March she just turned 6months last week:

3/6: 38g 2" 5/27: 136g
3/11: 45g 6/4: 143g 3 1/2"
3/18: 52g 6/10: 148g
3/25: 59g 2 1/2" 6/17: 167g
4/1: 68g 6/25: 179g
4/8: 76g 2 3/4" 7/1: 179g
4/15: 83g 7/9: 197g 4"
4/22: 87g
4/29: 99g
5/6: 104g
5/13: 117g 3"
5/20: 124g

Maybe im just going a little crazy, but her growth just amazes me because it is so fast. She only eats greens, I do not feed her any manufactured diets. I have tried to give her the grassland diet, but she refuses to eat it, so she only likes her grasses and lettuces.

I can't help you. I never kept a chart and mine is now 16 mo. However, yours looks great. The size of mine now though is as of 6/27/12, 10oz. 4 inches I haven't even able to get him to eat anything but greens either, except the outdoor grazing on clover and rose of Sharon. I keep trying Mazuri, doesn't want it yet.

Yours is growing pretty fast. I don't know if that's good or bad. Others will be able,to help I think.

You have a very healthy, very smooth, gorgeous leopard there. The growth rate seems excellent to me, the enclosure looks great, and your diet sounds just fine.

Do you realize that what you hold in your hand there did not exist just a few short years ago. Leopards seldom grew that fast and NONE of them ever grew that smooth. I shouldn't sat "that smooth", they didn't grow smooth at ALL! Your healthy tortoise and your beautiful pics bring a level of happiness to my heart that is immeasurable. Thank you! :D

Your torts are divine! I have 2 and have just looked at their growth charts and in 9 months one has gained 1148gms and the other has gained 459gms. In the last 2 weeks the bigger one gained 50gms while the smaller one gained 21gms. They both eat mainly just grass and as a treat they get hibiscus flowers and leaves and the occasional opuntia pad and flowers as there is very little else here at the moment as we are seriously DRY!

Very fast growth for a leopard, but he's a beautiful tortoise.

Do you have any idea how big the adults were that produced this one, or what they looked like?

There was a thread that has her parents created by exoticdr. It doesn't say How big they are but does have pics.

This is a lot bigger than my first one was at 6 mos. and my babies are not growing that fast either. I would say that is really good growth.

Could genetics play a part in how fast she is growing? There are other members that have siblings of Zenna's that are not as big or growing as fast as she is.

That is probably the biggest factor.

Different growth rates among tortoise siblings is very common. It's kind of like people...we all grow at different rates. Even members of the same family grow at different rates.

Here's the chart I have for Eros. I also have one for Gaia, but since she has only gained 18 grams since February 10.... it would be redundant! I do all measurments on Saturday morning after a soak but before they eat.

2/11 Arrival 2" -- 30.5 gm
2/18 2"-- 36.4 gm
2/25 2.25"-- 43.1 gm
3/3 5.5 cm -- 44.6 gm
3/10 5.5 cm -- 42.2 gm
3/17 5.5 cm -- 43.3 gm
3/24 5.6 cm -- 42.6 gm
3/31 5.6 cm -- 42.6 gm
4/7 5.6 cm -- 44.0 gm
4/14 5.6 cm -- 45.6 gm
4/21 5.7 cm -- 47.2 gm
4/28 5.7 cm -- 47.8 gm
5/5 5.8 cm -- 49.6 gm
5/12 5.8 cm -- 48.8 gm
5/19 5.8 cm -- 48.9 gm
5/26 5.8 cm -- 50.4 gm
6/2 5.9 cm -- 52.2 gm
6/9 6.0 cm -- 57.6 gm
6/16 6.0 cm -- 58.2 gm
6/23 6.3 cm -- 59.6 gm
6/30 6.3 cm -- 63.9 gm
7/7 6.4 cm -- 66.9 gm
7/14 6.5 cm -- 70.5 gm

As you can see, He has had significant growth since I seperated he and Gaia on May 12. Gaia however came to me at 6 month old (the day before I got Eros), 2" and 40.5 gm. today she is 5.8 cm and 56.4 gm

She will only eat greens, she love spring mix the most. Thank you: -) she is kept in a closed chamber enclosure and I spray her about 5 times a day. I make sure her humidity and heat is always high. Good luck with your little one: -)

Tom and Neal I forgot to give you credit for her looks. If it want for your humidity and moist ideas she would not be as happy as she is. Thank you both: -)
