Only in the last few years have we figured out how to grow them smooth. And really, outside of this forum, most people still don't "get it". There has not been enough time to raise adults yet. The only smooth adults that I have seen are long term captives that were wild caught back in the 90's or earlier when they were still being imported.

You might have to wait a few more years to see some smooth adults that have been captive raised.

They're out there. I've seen quite a few leopards, even babcocki, with smooth shells that were captive raised here in AZ, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of participation on the forum among adult leopard tortoise owners. There are a ton of people in this state with adult leopards, but most don't have any online presence, so no pictures anywhere.

I had one female that was very smooth....sold her though.

Greg, she is a beautiful gal. I really like the mixed coloring and elongated body.

ROFL to the last pic! I haven't tried feeding my new baby leopard fruit yet.... Maybe I should try a little! :) Just as a treat! (for being such a good tortoise! ;))

You can feed them fruits in moderation. Mine love strawberries, melons and grapes. I give them occasionally as treats with their foods. I fed some to him yesterday because he comes up to the back door when he is hungry and begs. I was trying to BBQ and he kept following me around so I felt guilty and gave him a few strawberries. he was happy.

My biggest male is only two, but he's getting big, and is 10"scl and 3150g, so almost 7 pounds. I am hoping that next year he'll be ready. Should be pretty big then.
