No it's not normal and could a sign of something very serious, even deadly. Let's start with more details like age and size of your tortoises. Both of them incase one could have hurt the other. Then go over with us how long have you had them, what do you feed them, and how do you keep them. Are the shells firm, if these are young ones? Do you use supplements? What sorta of substrate? Hydration... do you soak them? Do they have water available whenever they wish to soak? What temps are you keeping them at? Give us everything you can think of, please.

I don't know exact age. I have them 6 month.

Some details:
Bigger one
He/she was about 120g weight 6 month ago.
Hi/she is 220g weight now.

Smaller one (which has a problem)
He/she was about 70g weight 6 month ago.
He/she is about 111g weight now.

They eat weeds, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots. They don't eat fruits. I don't know why they don't like fruits.
They have water available whenever they wish. I saw them drinking in the past, but I don't see them drinking now.

They live in vivarium (100x40x40cm).
Substrate: sand and bark.
Temp is 25-30C.

They have UV bulb and Infrared bulb.
They have house where they can hide.

I'll try to make it to the vet tomorrow.

Do you give them calcium complement ? with the reptile, it's usually when they have need in calcium that the rear legs starts to don't move

Hi,

I was to the vet (one of the best in my country) yesterday. The problem is with bones and shell. It's because I have used bad UVB, bad diet... I had wrong info about diet and equipment which my tortoises need.

I bought new UVB, many suplements and vitamins. Vet said that my tortoise should be okey if I use all suplements. But I have one problem now. One of the vitamins is powder. I have mix tortoises food with vitamins. As I do that, one of my tortoise don't eat. If there is no vitamins - he eats. How can I cheat him? Any ideas?

You have to be subtle! A tiny amount of vitamins on something he can't resist. A "Cucumber sandwich" is a popular disguise - two slices of cucumber and a small sprinkle of medication in between. This can be done with any favourite food as a bribe!

Seeing as you need to sort your enclosure out for UVB, etc, why don't you post some pictures and tell us what you are using and our experts will be able to make sure you get it absolutely right.

For our knowledge, could you tell us what UVB bulb you were using. For the vitamins, try chopping the greens up tiny, sprinkle I. A little vitamin, spray greens with little water and toss together. In order to not have a lot of vitamin powder in a pile if greens, you might also try little piles with just a pinch of the vitamins and do this in several little piles. Others may have some suggestions. Good luck, hope all turns out good.

I agree with Laura, add the liquid vitamins and also liquid calcium to there soak baths and if they dont drink durring soak baths place few drops of each right into there drinking dish, but make sure to wash and clean there drinking dish often as you dont want that water to go stagnat.
