I have a 4 year old Hermann Tortoise. Every time I give him lettuce, he immediately carries it to his water dish and leaves it in the water. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere else.

He just likes his lettuce wet. Lol. Does he eventually eat it? Does he do it with other foods?

Tortoises like moist food, as they are in constant need of a wet environment. This doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with your habitat, but it’s usually just a tortoise preference. I spray my tortoises food down so she can get water.

I had a moment of tortoise cuteness today. My little Russian was sitting on one of his flat rocks eating some greens. He had pushed the greens closer to the rock so he could just reach down and chomp. It was sooo cute.

Just about everything they do is cute because it's done with that slow, lumbering crawl, determined look on their faces, and plants/barriers/small spaces be damned--there's NO going around!
