My 3 year old box turtle has a light spot on her head. It’s a light brown stop between the eyes. It looks a little crusty and has been growing very slowly. It’s dry and almost looks a little crusty. Should I be concerned?

This turtle lives indoors under a uvb light. Her diet is mostly turkey, strawberries, lettuce, and pillbugs or whatever she finds outside. I give her some vitamin d on her turkey about once a week but only a little. She’s a very picky eater and doesn’t like the vitamins if I put too much on her food. Overall she’s happy and active. She’s spent about 3 days in her water recently but is back to usual daily baths.

Any idea what is causing this? I would appreciate any help.

Steve

There is real talent here that will show up for you Steve so hang in there....and thanks Steve, your pics suck worse than mine do so it makes me feel good. LOL

That's an odd "injury" that appears to ME to be caused by constant rubbing his face against a wall, maybe glass, forcing his head up and into the spikey-sharpie shell bit above his head?

It's look to be an old wound but you said it just began.....

It might be a build up of dry skin that just keeps growing. I would recommend keeping it moisturized and scrubbing it with a toothbrush when soaking your tortoise.
