here is what the reptile specialist at the san diego zoo uses for her galaps....which I have now done for my galap.
Here are some diet recommendations for Galaps (and select other tortoise species):
Most (90%) of the diet should be grasses (Burmuda and Timothy are great choices). If fresh Burmuda is not available, hay will suffice. Alfalfa is ok in moderation (never more than 5% of the daily food intake). Produce can be offered to supplement the diet as well (see below). Unlimited amounts of hibiscus and mulberry can be offered as these are especially nutritious. Never use commercial calcium supplements as they are easy to overdose your tortoise. If tortoises are given a proper diet (based on the 2:1 Calciumhosphorus Ratio), and have access to real sunlight, they should never require additional calcium or vitamen supplements. In general the darker green the leaf the more calcium the plant has.
Acceptable produce:
Kale
Collards
Mustard Greens
Bok Choy
Spinach (in moderation)
Dandellion Greens
Chard
Romaine (in moderation)
Escarole
Cilantro
Parsley
Turnip Greens
Beet Greens
Snap Peas
Green Beans
Other great food choices:
Mulberry leaves (very healthy for tortoises)
Hibiscus flowers and leaves
Rose blooms
Mallows
Grape leaves
Cactus pads (spineless variety of Opuntia)
Cactus fruit
Mazuri tortoise biscuits
NEVER feed the following:
Fruit (especially bananas and apples)
Meat
Dog/Cat food
Avocado
iceburg lettuce
brocolli/cauliflower
Monkey biscuits
Green Peas
