LOOK WHAT I FOUND

Today while cleaning up the adults enclosure I found this hatchling. I looked for more, but did not find any, however, the enclosure is huge so there are many hiding places. The only reason I noticed him was that I was looking for any possible activity of nesting and I saw a tiny pile of dirt thrown up on a rock and my first thought was that there might be a nest, however, when I looked closer I saw the hatchling up against the rock. In the second picture you can see that he has irregular scutes.

Yes the yolk sac is gone. I am going to go out tomorrow morning and get down on my hands and knees and look for more.

I have not found more, but I am still looking. The enclosure is huge with many places a hatchling could hide.

I just found another Russian hatchling. He was laying in the sun/shade basking. This one does not have extra scutes.

awww! I'm totally in love! I'm impartial to Russians seeing as Franklin's a Russian. But hatchlings melt my heart as do the irregular scutes! I'm like a pile of mush over here! You know you're doing good when adults nest and hatchlings hatch fine on their own without even notice. I like how its like he came into the world and just no big deal was chilling out.
