Hello,
Recently I have been looking for enclosure or enclosure ideas for my 3 month of baby sulcata, Sinclair. Right now he is in a 20 gallon (I know it is small so I want to upgrade). Due to the lack of room in his current tank I like to give him extra "outside time" before his daily baths. I apologize if my description of what I am looking for gets confusing.

Currently I am in an apartment (plan to stay for three more years to finish school) and I want to add something that wont look too out of place but match all of Sinclair's needs at the same time. I also have a cat at home who doesnt seem to mind Sinclair but I would recommend any sort of top or lid to the enclosure to prevent any accidents. I am willing to make a homemade design if you have any ideas.

I am a bit new to the tortoise world so I appreciate whatever help you can provide. :)

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum!

This tortoise is going to need an 8x4 foot closed chamber to live in until it’s big enough to live outside full time. Keep that in mind.

For now, build a 2x4 foot closed chamber enclosure.

Be sure to give these a read-

You are going to need a lid to keep in the humidity you need. It is almost impossible to hold 80-100% humidity with an open top.

I'd reccomend a 65gal tub:

Cut out the inside perimeter of the lid and replace with glass, acrylic, or lexan. To create an airtight seal use expanding foam window seals or gaskets. You can also use other stuff to create airtight seal like duct tape or aluminum bath/fan tape aka foil tape.

In my opinion the above should last you a year or so untill you can build a 8x4 raised bed with tent or whatever. Try to imagine how much space you would need if you were that small. Also observe the tortoise behavior, if it's too cramped you'll know.
