Looking for a single or a couple of Ibera greek tortoise in Los Angeles

Hi, I am Bruce. I am new to both the forum and tortoises. I am looking for a single (no sex preference) or a couple of Ibera greek tortoises. I had approached several pet shops and couldn't find any. My budget is around $ 200 / tortoise and the price is totally negotiable (I don't know what is the reasonable price for greek tortoises).

Hi Bruce

I can't help you source the tortoises, but will advise you only to get 2 if you have the space to keep them entirely separately. They are territorial and solitary. In the wild they roam for miles, meet up to mate and move on. Regardless of gender and relationship they see another tort as a rival for territory and food; they don't get lonely or want company.

Each tortoise will require approximately 4'x8' floor area.

I recommend that you read the TFO care guides. They're written by species experts working hard to correct the outdated information widely available on the internet and from pet stores and sadly from some breeders and vets too.
