Looking to adopt desert tortoise

I'm in Elk Grove,CA 95757.
Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can acquire a cdt? Hopefully not from somewhere too far. The farthest I can travel would be in the Bay area.
Male or female, doesn't matter. I love my torts and have room in the yard for another (to be kept separately, of course). Currently have a russian and a Leopard.

Google " California Turtle and tortoise Club". Look for the chapter closest to you , fill out an adoption application and send it to them. They will do a home check. It's hibernation time.

I was supposed to be doing the rescues for Cen-Val Chapter (CTTC), but I think they've allowed that to fall by the wayside. I guess the Merced Branch of CTTC would be closest to you. CTTC hasn't updated their home page, and Merced isn't a chapter yet. They have only applied last year. Maybe Kathy can find out from her chapter their contact info.
