Lucinda also goes by Lucy. I pretend to let my daughter be the mother. She is 16. We all live in Southwest Idaho and it is very dry. I can’t get the enclosure above 50%. At night I can get it a little higher to 60%. But, I don’t want her to get dehydrated in the heat. Lately, she poops every time my daughter picks her up. Not just a turd, but she get washed with a calcium bath. Lucy used to be so social and now she only comes out for food. Any suggestions? Great forum!

50-60% humidity is okay for adult Russians.
They do need water to drink and get into if they want available 24/7
Use a large clay saucer for the water bowl. Get one large enough she can fit her whole self into and deep enough that the water comes just above the area that the top and bottom shell meet.
Bury the water bowl level with substrate

Welcome!

It's normal for some torts to release all of their urates at once when it's time to eat/drink again. It is also pretty normal for tortoises to not want to be bothered unless food is involved. You could always post a new thread in the Russians section to get the conversation going!
