My wife had gotten me a small Star Tortoise as this year's surprise Valentine present. We went to a newly opened reptile store in our community to pick up this small cute guy/girl.

We decided to name it "Luke" for now...

We aslo picked up a reptile enclousre to house the little Star, since my wife wanted me to keep it indoor so we can see how it's doing through out the day. I've also modified the interior like adding additional lighting fixture(night light), leves hanger, and stone flooring tiles to make the environment more suitable for the Star Tortoise.

Luke has been doing great under our care, and it is not a shy tortoise at all as it would stick its head and looking at us as we are interesting animals... ^_^

Hi,
LL is adorable!
Congrats.
We are in OC too. Do you mind sharing which reptile store/breeder you found him at?
Thanks!

I'm curious about the clip hanging from the top of your enclosure...Do you put lettuce on there so he has to reach for it?

Sure, this store "Reptile Jungle" just opened up 2 months ago off Warner and Newland in Fountain Valley. The shop owner Dave is really big on turtles and tortoises. He's got some hot stuff in his store, just talk to him and he will show you what he got. I was in the store yesterday, and he's got another sub-adult Sri Lanka Star on display and what a beauty it is.

I was hoping the store was Reptile Jungle!

I spoke with Dave this week, super nice guy. We are going to his store today. I have my heart set on a star and it is my birthday this month...

Hi DanaRae60:

Won't you take a few moments to start a new thread in the "introductions" section and tell us a bit about yourself?

I've got some more photos of little Luke...

This is the current setup of the enclosure...I switched out the plastic humid hide to a natural bark, as little Luke has no interest what so ever using it. Now with the tree bark, he goes in and out during the day to regulate his own body temperature...

Enough of the enclosure, let's see some more photos of Luke Landwalker...

Outdoor Field Trip

Now we start getting a few sunny days here in So Cal, I would let little Luke play a few hours in the little garden and he can use a little bit of natural UVB from the real Sun...
