Hi all,
I recently bought a light fixture for a t8 tube uv light.
The fixture has a magnetic ballast.
Will the t8 uv bulb work fine with a magnetic ballast ?
I have no idea what I'm doing honestly. The size of the fixture is 60cm and the t8 tube is 18w

What does the ballast say on it? They usually have the number and types of lamps they are made to work with. If not, is there a manufacturer and part number? Can you post pictures?

Even if the ballast wasn't designed for T-8 lamps, it could work for a while, I've seen it done. But it could also significantly shorten lamp or ballast life and may pose other risks. I wouldn't risk it; I'd ensure that the ballast was made to work with those lamps or replace the ballast (really not that hard).

As long as the electronic ballast matches the lamps (or vice versa), then it should work fine.
