Your tort is very cute, but too small to sex accurately just yet in my opinion.

They all look female to start. Male characteristics don't show until they're much closer to full grown

Your tortoise looks about 4" and at 4" you can start to guess with Indian Stars. In my opinion, It does seem the faster grown younger stars at this size is harder to tell. But an older star at this size will start to show.

I'm going with male. The rear edges of the anal scutes are looking very straight to me for any that later proved female. The overall shape is appearing more oval vs. round and that is more male looking. I have seen oval shaped females, but not rounder males. The tail still looks female, but that seems to develop a bit later.

That all could change, but that's my guess at this stage - and you wanted a guess!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

A gorgeous tort. GOD bless. I think your tort's a male-only guessing. Am no tort expert.

They're probably right, it's most likely a male if so many people think so! I just thought it was female because the tail was so pudgy, but I forgot about the scutes.
