Male RES heads

Something I've noticed a bit more recently is that male sliders heads are bit skinnier than females.
My girls heads are very large things, but mr talons' is very small.
Calling out other pictures around here ;)
@Daveypryme's turtle looks a little to be a little skinny in the noggin, as well.
I can't really see @mike taylor's slider clearly, but I'll guess his head is like this too.
Is this 'scientific' or just a coincidence?

I'm not going to touch this one

as far as I know no scientific evidence just anecdotal

but my males all have that distinguishing characteristic as well

All the male/female RES I have had or seen are the same too, as you state. I just always assumed it's one of the distinguishing sex characteristics. Nothing out of the ordinary
