Putting on some nice size. Appearing to be female at this point. This species is just another hidden gem we work with and rarely talk about. Much more outgoing than rhinoclemmys manni. Not as colorful of course. Wish more were in the United States.

I have NEVER kept a Rhinoclemmys species, and I don't know if I ever will. I try so hard to keep myself from taking on any animals that aren't super small or super cold tolerant. My CT climate is just too difficult to work with..

byway, that makes me go strictly on looks if I were to tell you my favorite Rhinoclemmys. If I did have to choose, it would be Rhinoclemmys melanosterna. They have all the great characteristics of the diademata, but better in my opinion. Their blue eyes are amazing.
