He came to me a couple years ago a little bumpy and quite a bit marbled! I wondered at that time if he was a MALE?

In the 8" SCL range..

"He" looks to be Brazilian from the bottom! -

Do we see any concavity starting?

How about from this direction - tail and anal scutes? Either way it's a "no lose" situation -

AND.... in case anyone wants to accuse me of showing off.....
YOU ARE RIGHT!

I love that shell coloring, heck the coloring of the entire tortoise is awesome !!! Hopefully soon we can come across a nice male cherryhead to pair up with our female.

Looks like a male and if so you should easily be able to confirm by running warm water over his plastron. Males from that size up will usually expose themselves when that is done.
A soaking in warm water will often produce the same results.

LOL! This sounds like the tortoise keepers version of dipping the camper's hand in warm water while they sleep!

Nice tip, though!

That's a really beautiful RF ! Looks like a cherry male to me at least...

The "watering thingy" works for all of my three males every time, even for the youngest one that isn't more than five (yes 5!) years old !!!
