I think it's a mud turtle, or a rare water turtle of sorts.

My name is Soft shell and I am an unaltered male, brown Turtle.

My age is unknown.

I have been at the shelter since Aug 29, 2009.

This information is less than 1 hour old.

Any dog or cat under the age of 8 weeks will only be adopted with its mother and the rest of the litter. Please call first to confirm that the mother and litter are available for placement.

Adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, all animals will be sterilized prior to release.

I live in calif about 20 mins from la how does one go about this, also do they sterilize the turtles also?

It does say ALL animals will be sterilized, so yes, I assume he wont leave the shelter the man he came there as!

No, I really doubt they would sterilize a turtle. And its not a mud turtle, it is a soft shell. That is what they're called...soft shelled turtle from the family Trionychidae.

As Yvonne said above. NO the shelter will not sterilize any tortoises nor turtles. I've adopted two boxies from couple of these shelters. The procedure is the tort has to be at the shelter at least five days before one can adopt it out. If there are more people who are interested at the same tort, the shelter will have a draw to get a winner. Also you have to find out what the adoption fee is, and this could range from $5 to more than $50. Good luck.
