So I was looking around on Craigslist a few weeks ago and stumbled on what looked like a really nice enclosure for 100.00 bucks. I send a message asking for more pics. First up is the picture they posted

Now it looked pretty nice and I figured I would close off the vents and use it as a closed chamber for my hatchling box turtles. They sent me a few more pictures and it didn't look ask good as the picture on Craigslist so I then asked if they would take 50.00 because I wasn't sure how much work had to be done to repair it.

I didn't hear back from them for a few days so I figured someone else went ahead and bought it, no biggie. Well they got back and said they could go 50. I told them I would come take a look at it and see what I thought. I went to the house and from the pictures I wasn't surprised when I got to the house at the mess. Wow I didn't know people lived this bad. I take a look and figured it was worth about 40 but I threw out 20 to start and explained that it was in need of repairs. Both ends had been chopped up, one worse than the other.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1480041469.707629.jpg

They had told me they were told to clean the house or be served with eviction notices and were just getting rid of things so they took the 20. I've made several repairs as you can see and all the stuff I had at home so it hasn't cost me anything more than the 20.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1480041693.340023.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1480041711.695931.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1480041733.346150.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1480041774.569981.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1480041797.733166.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1480041825.162601.jpgImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1480041836.655727.jpg

I have 2 large concrete tubs put together that will hold the substrate instead of just putting it down on the tile that was installed in it.

Now to the fun part of decorating it.

Nice find and rehab! Do the two tubs just butt up to each other or did you plastic weld them or connect them some how?

I cut the ends off and used clear silicone on them. I put water in it for 2 days to check for leaks.

I use them so I don't have to line it with anything

wow, that first picture looked great! what on earth did they do to this thing? It went from an A+ to a F

It was pretty obvious from their house they didn't take care of anything. I thought it was still a good deal for 20. I'm happy with how it turned out. I've installed a thermostat, CHE and good lighting. Today I will put in everything else.
