Wanted to share with somebody who cares. Lol!
Mama laid her eggs riiiight in front of the porch stairs (in moss point ms) on August 2. Worst spot ever. Lol So i moved them carefully into a little container, marking how their indents needed to be in the dirt first. Kept them on a warm shelf with a wet cloth over the container. After a couple of weeks, i could tell that 3 of the 4 had babies in them!

2 days ago the first 2 hatched, and yesterday number 3 arrived! (Days 50 and 51)
I'm thinking we're looking at GC babies, although there could be some eastern mixed in. Including pics of mama and babies for opinions!

Almost forgot! Since we have 3 and not 4, the kids couldn't name them after ninja turtles. They decided I could pick 3 other artist names, so i went with Bosch, Bob Ross, and Banksy. (We named egg 4 Dudley- it never went "bad" so Dudley got to sit the incubation with its fellow eggies.)

Yes, we homeschool (somewhere between a buncha kids of varying ages it just became easier and more sensible for us) so this has been a super enjoyable project. We had some baby sliders for a little over a year, but lost them in an unfortunate accident while a friend was watching them. We've missed turtling. There's a group of them living under my husband's porch. I plan to do the water method for a while and then make these lil guys a comfy enclosure so we can enjoy watching them grow. Our dirt is chock full of earthworms and roly polys, so hopefully they'll learn to hunt AND accept treats.

I'm excited to see their progress. Box turtles are wonderful.
