This how I let mine roam the yard. I stand there in the yard with them at all times but still helps keep me from loosing sight of them. They are very camouflaged in the grass and leaves. Toy Cone and a fat rubber band.. It works great. I also have a white flag(white duck tape) that sticks up on the tip of the cone.

I once saw a photo of a tortoise in someone's house with a Mylar balloon tied around it's shell, so it didn't get lost under furniture.
