I had my son move back in with his husky thinking there wouldn't be an issue because we had a dog previously with no problems. He left her alone with my boy and she chewed the front of his shell!! It is all healed up but is rough in the front so it scratches his neck underneath. I have mole skin on it but that gets dry and starts to separate and causes the same issue. Can I lightly sand down the rough part? Should I take him to a vet to do it?? Help. Oh and he now has a wonderful habitat with a burrow and a garden. I hope one day soon he can have his yard back so he can go where he wants.

Pictures of the damaged area would be helpful for remedial advice...as long as the shell is not bleeding I would suspect very light sanding, to knock off the rough edges, would be OK, but again, pictures...
