He is a little cutie. :) I am sure he is eagerly awaiting his move into a larger enclosure. First looks are he appears healthy. Is he eating for you yet?

Pretty beardie too.:D

He is a nice looking tort. Post some pictures of his enclosure. If you go to Redfoots.com look up his care sheets. They are very easy to follow.

Those under-the-bed tubs are pretty good size. They're longer than the normal tub, and they have shorter sides.

three months old.

i decided on redfoot instead of sulcata, the care is tougher, but the reward seems to be just as great.

i like him alot, today i am setting up a bigger setup.

Captain, Make sure you get him in some humidity. It appears that he was on the route to pyramiding with whomever cared for him previously as his scutes are a little shallow than should be. Other than that, he looks awesome! Redfoots.com for a good guideline on their care requirements.

not sure the exact dims.

it has a hide on the warm side.
there is a red radiant heat lamp in the clamp. 50 watt.
water dish under the lamp
flipped plastic container on the other side with an entry pointed away from the light.

thats most of it, seems ok
but i don't know how to keep humidity in with the open top.:(
i can only mist down the soil and the hides, but he prefers the log.

any suggestions?
is the setup ok?

thanks

It's looks alirght but you could benefit by reviewing hatchling setup on redfoots.com. The light should be on the hide, the hide should be bigger and preferably made of wood to help absorb some heat. Make sure you use a temp probe 'inside' the hide to get 85-90F which should also be kept moist because that is where he'll spend most of his time. That's why you want ideal conditions inside the hide or the heat will mostly be useless if the hide is cold. Again, that's where he'll spend his time.

Hope this helps.

alright i will buy a one entry log hide that is bigger.
and put a hot basking light over it.
i will also pick up a probed thermometer with combo humidity.

maybe tomorrow if i have time.

Captain, You do not need a basking light. The heat light over the hide will be fine. Mist down the moss (sphargam moss by Mosser Lee can be obtained from Lowes) and place something over part of the enclosure to keep the humidity up.
To keep the humidity up in the hide you can drill a whole in the middle and using a bolt and nut attach a sponge to the roof. Make sure it is not touching your tort. Keep the sponge damp- Vola moist hide. (is that an efel tower you have in his hide between his waterbowl and his baskin Robins hide?
I also suggest you look at www.redfoots.com both the diet and the enclosure areas.
