This is "Dimple".
I swapped her for one of my rescue males. (not the hybrid, a different one)
She is a healthy, active 15 year old. Good appetite, and very outgoing personality.
She has a very odd deformation of her shell, hence her name. There is absolutely no sign of trauma or injury, her shell just has this odd kidney shape. Anybody ever seen anything like this before? What could cause such a thing?
In any event, I am very happy with her, she's a sweetheart.

Nice-looking desert tortoise, John. The "dimple" was probably an injury that happened when she was a hatchling and actively growing. It might have even been something wrapped around her like those plastic circles that hold soda pop bottles together.

could also be something that happened at the end of incubation. there are cases where the inner shell pulls down slightly crushing the tortoise just before hatching. sometimes with lots of soaking and spraying they can straighten themselves out and sometimes not.
