I didn't have her cage warm enough so she got sick and became very lethargic, she won't eat or open her eyes and since I turned the temperature up she has started moving around more but still won't eat. Today when I picked her up out of her water bowl a long pick slime was coming out of where her butt is. What does this mean and how do I help her get better?

Hi macychristine:

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!!

I'm sorry to say, but your tortoise needs to see a good reptile vet.

Whereabouts in the world are you Christine? Do you know of a reptile vet near you... Maybe someone can recommend one to you.

In the meantime get your tort as warm as possible (30C / 95F) night and day and soak twice daily for a good 30 minutes in shallow warm water.

Goid luck

Do you mean like a penis or do you mean like a parasite???? what do you mean a pink slime????

May we see a pic of your tort?

I don't have a picture but if it happens again I will take one. I live in California and I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow and we will see what they say.

I live in californa and I had someone turn in a female russian to me, she was sick with an RI, and I had to take her to the vet, it cost about 250 or so, with vet visits and meds.

I hope she is alright! I'm in California also. We have a vet here in elk grove that is good.
