Hi,

I''ve had my Hermans Tortoise a few years now and I kept reading guides that said to trim nails you need to cut just the transparent bit where the vein ends or it will bleed and cause them pain.

But the nails are getting to the point now where they look far too long but at the same time I can see the thick vein running through them to the ends. There's no way I can cut them without going through it

He has a varied terrain with a piece of slate for his food etc

Hi Joey, and welcome to the forum!

You can clip a tiny bit off the tip. This will cause the blood to recede a bit. Then in a week or so you can clip a bit more...and on and on.
