Hello, I have 2 Russian Tortoises, male / female. I was curious about hibernation. Is it possible to naturally hibernate them outdoors if you live in the cold weather. I live in South Dakota, and my tortoises are in a large , well protected outdoor greenhouse with heating. Usually i always bring them inside for the winter, and have never hibernated them. I was thinking about trying to mate them and see if i can hibernate them naturally. I can keep my greenhouse at about 40F during the winter, and well protected from the elements. Could i just leave them in there, and what specifically do you do to hibernate them. I assume dont feed them and they go in to a hide and just remain there ? All help is appreciated as I am new on this topic. Thank you.
