Your new home for Vlad is amazing. I know it won’t be too much longer until I have to think about something like that. Will you still use foam insulation to keep the temperature warm?

Thanks! We're excited for him to move in :) Yes, we're actually building a night box based on Tom's design here:
https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/another-night-box-thread.88966/

That's going to be inside his 8x16 enclosure so he has a nice warm place to go when the house is chilly.

@txturtledude's setup looks like it would be a cheap option for you while Tommy is still little. Thanks for the ideas @txturtledude!

Awesome [emoji846] how's Tommy doing in general? Eating well, soaking, etc?

He’s doing really well. He eats great and I soak him once a week. Hopefully that’s enough. He’s really dark though on his face and neck I’m hoping it’s from the repti bark I put in his tote. I had his light really low because I was afraid it wasn’t getting hot enough but I bought a CHE to help with the heating issues so I raised up the lights. I hope he’s ok. I wish you lived near me to help me!!!!

Others might be able to offer better advice regarding smaller sulcatas, but I suspect you may want to soak him more frequently, especially if humidity in his enclosure is on the low side. I think the recommendation is 20-30 minutes daily in 95F water when they're smaller like Tommy.

Do you have an infrared temperature gun to check temps in specific areas?

I will soak him more often thank you! I also got the enclosure that @txturtledude suggested for Tommy. I did get an infrared temperature gun which helps a lot. Thank you!

Hi @koehle29, just wanted to check in and see how you were making out with Tommy?

The weather has been getting nice - have you gotten a chance to get him outside at all yet?

Hi, he’s doing so much better in his covered habitat! No I didn’t bring him out side yet. Not sure if I will as I think he may be too little!

Glad to hear he's doing well. I think Tom's rule of thumb is one hour outside per inch of tortoise, but having a secure outside enclosure for him is critical to prevent against predators and escape.

Hi @koehle29, just wanted to check in and see how Tommy is doing :) Has he gotten a chance to get some outside time now that it's warmed up?
