Thanks for all the replies... No doubt she must be a Russian! So weird, because I took her to a vet who is an owner of Desert tortoises. He said not a Russian but a Desert.

she is a adult.. not a youngster...
the first time i saw a russian... a stray.. i thought it was a young Desert tort.. then I did some research... found how cool sulcatas were and have 4! learned A LOT being here...

Also, if you accept the subspecies classification for this species, you have the Kazakh subspecies (Testudo horsfieldi kazachstanica), which appears to be the most commonly encountered here in the pet trade.

Looks identical to mine.
