hello- I am looking to take in this baby. Can someone help me with what looks to be flaking shell on he bottom. Is this bad? Should I avoid taking this in? Also, why is the shell on this redfoot such a light color. Is it sick? Any help is appreciated. I am willing to put some work into making t healthy, but my kids will be devastated if I bring him home and something tragic happens.

I'm still a newbie, but that looks like shell rot, which should heal up with a week's worth of daily applications of athlete's foot creme.

It's fine, actually it's got some pretty nice coloring.

Normal looking northern type.
Just guessing but it appears to be a typical Suriname hatchling.

Like the others said...shell fungus.
Try to keep humid, but not wet.
Pack the food to it for a while so it grow out of that crud.
Check the various Care Sheets...all have value
