I don't have experience with either species, but along the lines of UV lighting, I think most members use the mecury vapor bulbs or repti sun tube bulbs.

The t5 uvb tube fixtures with a che work great for the red foot tortoise . As they don't like bright lighting and will hide from it . The sulcata on the other hand love the light. So a nice basking spot lamp with the uvb is great. But a che on a thermostat for night time heat is a must for both enclosures. Check out Tom's threads in the sulcata section of the forum he covers almost everything. But remember everybody will have to change somethings around to there needs depending on there location.

T8 is fine the deep dome are ok to . Just keep in mind you need a cool side ,a warm side, and basking spot. The sulcata needs to have a basking spot of 95/110 f . A warm side of 85/90 cool side of no lower than 80 . Night time temps need to stay in the 80 's . So you will have to set it up to the kind of enclosures you have. Here is how I got my baby sulcata set up . He is in a big lizard tank . I have two small dome fixtures one with a 100 watt heat lamp and one with a 100 watt che . The one with the che is on a thermostat set to 80 and will only cone on when needed mostly night time. I also have a 24 inch t5 uvb lamp .Here is a picture
