I got a new leopard tortoise almost 7 days ago.
When I got him his eyes were shut. I soaked him right away and he drank for like 10 minutes straight. His poop is solid but it is white. I believe he is dehydrated, I’ve been soaking him every day for 20 minutes and he drinks a lot, but I’ve only seen his eyes open a couple times and he wipes at them. I contacted the seller and they told me that they like to be warm. I told them that he came like that and that my pen is real warm and humid. His only answer was send it back for a refund. I’m looking for opinions. Do I soak him more, does he have something really wrong, or should I send it back for a refund. I posted pics from day one up to today. The one is when it actually was opened. I’ve only seen him eat a little.

I do have other torts including another young leopard they are all perfect. Here is pics of the enclosure. I use a freedom breeder 120x2 thermostat one end is 100 the other is 85 during day. At night it’s 85 in hot end 83 in cool. I use fluorescent reptisun uvb and Che for heat the bedding is cypress. I also put them outside in the sun for like 20 minutes every couple days.

You've discovered the sad fact that most breeders to not start or care for babies correctly, and there response to your problem really shows how much they care... So disgusting.

The white stuff is urates, and it is indeed from being dehydrated. Daily soaks and a warm humid environment should clear that up. The problem is that if there was too much damage done BEFORE you got the baby, they cannot recover.

That is terrible. Cause the place I got it from is suppose to be a reputable place. I will not say their name on the forum. So I should send it back and get a refund?

What I know now since joining the forum back in 2011, you would be wise to send him back if they will refund.
More don't seem to make it then what does.
Of course you could ask the breeder, if you try to keep him and get him better and he still passes in a month or more would they still refund.
Do in the vendor review and review the breeder. At least let people know who this is that starts them dry. You can add in that they at least offered to take it back.

Clock on forum, scroll down to where it says Market Place. Scroll down in that area and you will find Vendor Reviews.
