Hi all,

I have a 2 year old Hermann tortoise called Rodney and had him for around a month. We are trying to keep him outside as much as possible but he is inside at the moment saw it's so miserable and dull :(.

I'm currently having a bit of a change around with his lights. The heat lamp I have seems to be great but I have been told the uv lamp is dangerous as it is a coil lamp so I'm looking into a new one.
If anyone can post links of a full kit including bulb and holder that would be great.

Thanks everyone

Look for one with a fixture and tube combination. It's usually cheaper. I use a 5.0 for my Redfoot.
I cant honestly say what a Hermans would need. Sorry.

The Mercury Vapour Bulbs (MVBs) are heat and UVB in one, so you don't need a heat lamp.
However, they need to be switched off at night so that your tortoise can sleep.
Where you are it is likely to get pretty cold at night so you may need a CHE (ceramic heat emitter), to use on a thermostat at night.
This provides heat, but no light.
