We just got a new baby sulcata yesterday. Named him Sheldon, hes about 2 1/2 years old. sheldon.JPG sheldonshell.JPG sheldonbowser.JPG The previous owners wanted to get rid of him because his shell is kinda messed up. Any tips on how to help him? Also we have an older sulcata (also has a messed up shell, just our luck I guess), but we’ll be keeping them separate. I heard they don’t like other tortoises? We did a little introduction and Bowser (the older one) didn’t seem to mind but I don’t want to take chances on leaving them alone.

Hello!

Good plan on keeping them separate. Not only do they not need a friend, but bullying could occur as well as spreading diseases between the two.

Your new one has significant pyramiding. His previous owners were probably raising him based on old information, so you want to make sure you follow the hydration, and soaking tips provided on the care sheets at the top of the sulcata section.

Keep us updated on the new member of your family!
