Hey everyone! So I’m a tortoise dad of a couple years, when I married my wife she brought with her this tortoise she’s had for about 10+ years. Long story short, her uncle picked up this sweetheart in Arizona, rescuing it after seeing it had a damaged foot. I’d love to know more about my specific tortoise, googling has giving me lots of information but it’s not much good if I can’t identify her (we think her)

(I also know there is a touchy issue of taking a tortoise out of its habitat, my wife’s uncle isn’t the type to care about this, and at this point,it’s unreasonable to try and send her back to the wild)

This is a desert tortoise. Thay are protected species in california, have a search for your local rules about getting registered as a legal owner.
