I wanted to build an enclosure from a plastic tote. Got a big clear one. I knew keeping humidity up would be hard. So I covered top with plexiglass and cut small holes to hang lights. Currently testing to see how temp and humidity hold. If this doesn’t work, then im not sure what next. Give honest opinions and any ideas to make better.

What kind of tortoise and what bulbs are you using?
If one of them is a mercury vapor bulb I would try to replace it with a florescent uvb. A lot of pyramiding still happens with the uvb even with the high humidity.
Otherwise the plastic tote should work as many use them for hatchlings

Leopard. Bulb is definitely not vapor. Im pretty sure it’s floresent. Zoo med bulb. Also im trying a heat mat on the cool side. Was low to mid 70s. Seems to be working. In the 80s now. Will continue testing out until i get it right. Not getting baby for another week or so. Want it to be good to go and not trying to figure it out later.

If it's a florescent then it must be the compact kind which is not recommended as they have been known to cause eye damage. Those compact are not meant to be hung up/down but side ways. The way you have it, up/down is what causes the eye problems.
