I'm in NH! I'm still in the research and preparation stage. Planning on a Hermanns. Possibly Greek or Russian.
I've been asking questions as I think of them. The folks I here are super helpful. I will say that they don't all agree sometimes, so I look at everyone's answers and scavenge old forums for backup of the answers!
I started a thread about heat and uv for Hermanns and got a response from a woman in Maine, so a similar climate.
I originally wanted a red foot. I have realized the testudo are more suited to the environment I can provide in a home in NH.
I think that as long as you aren't releasing an exotic in the wild, you don't have any laws in NH regarding tortoises.

Not sure, but I think the laws are geared more towards native species.

Yes, there are a lot of laws regarding possession of natives. The only time that I know of exotics being involved in regulations, is if it could potentially affect natives. So really it would only come into play for fish and some mammals. A tortoise would never survive our winter wonderland!
