Hi. New to the forum so here’s my introductory post.
I’m a “retired” vet tech, homeschool mom, & foster mom.
I’m not new to tortoises, necessarily.
I had a sulcata when I lived in AZ, I still have a 40+ year old box turtle that I got as a child, also we recently took in a sulcata (though we live in northern IL now). I’m here to read up on how others in the Midwest keep their tortoises.
    Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to the forum!! That is so cool, that you have your box turtle for 40 years. I really wanted a turtle or tortoise when I was a child. But only have them now when I am 40. Lol

    Hi! Thanks :)
Yes! I’m very lucky to have had him all this time. My grandma gave me the box turtle when I was 4. Over the years, she and my mom have discussed his possible age from when he came to me. They both know/agree that he was definitely older than me at the time (knowing where they acquired him), but they don’t know an exact date. We’ve been through a lot together.

Don't know how old they can get, but I hope he will be with you for many more years to come then.
That is one thing I love about my Tortoises, knowing they will still be with me when I am a old lady.

He has a cute face by the way!!

Thanks! His name is “Orange” Apparently that’s what 4 year olds name turtles with an orange stripe on their face... This one anyway LOL
