So a while back I mentioned that I had plans to create a humid enclosure that was as pleasing to the eye as it was conventional for the torts. So this is the start of it. It's chunks of Styrofoam glued to a large Styrofoam sheet.

Is there a purpose for the styrafome? A cave out of that would be really cool!

Ok so I've added a pillar to help support the top of the cave. Once it's coated with 3-4 layers of Quikcrete it'll get pretty heavy.

I also found some pretty sweet bleached wood while hiking, that I'm going to seal, that I thing will really give it a natural authentic look.

So the first pic has 2 coats so far. The second pic has only one coat and is quite a bit weaker. I think I'll only do 3 coats each.

Yeah pretty cheap! I used some Styrofoam that I had just around the house. I bought two pieces of 2' x 4' insulation Styrofoam. I used calk that I had on hand. The only thing that was expensive I would say was the $12 bucket of QuiCrete sand less grout. I would say the whole thing I've been into for probably less than $30 and 3-4 hours of the time. Plus the kids have been helping me with the painting of the grout so it's been a pretty fun project.
