Hi! I am new here and I have a 7 month old Sulcata. I got him/her last September (2021) at Reptile Expo Anaheim. I just want to know what a tortoise that age should weigh and look like. He/She really loves to eat Mazuri pellets and a bit of lettuce, kale, and clover sprouts. Weighs 233 grams and about 4 inches length.

Thank you!PXL_20220405_155253004.jpgPXL_20220405_155240233.jpgPXL_20220319_160844917.jpg

Weights can vary tremendously due to the many variables involving care, heat, humidity, hydration, and diet. Yours is on the small side for its age, but not too bad.

Your really need to improve the diet. Get out of the grocery store and go out into the world to find weeds, grasses, leaves and flowers. Buy or find some spineless opuntia and start growing it now. Plant a fruitless mulberry tree or two. Grape vine leaves are great food too. All of this and more is explained in the linked care sheet.

Most of the care info you find for this species is all wrong. The same wrong info is repeated almost universally everywhere you look. Breeders, vets, books, and the internet. Here is the correct care info:

Questions are welcome.
