Spent the day building this new outdoor pen. It's 20x20. Has a area of leaves with different edible plants and weeds, an area of grass for grazing. I also made built in viewing benches on each corner. Hopefully he enjoys it. :)

You did an awesome job! I like the benches because they make great corner caps, they give you more places to observe from, and they give extra shade/shelter for the tortoises. It's a win win no matter how you look at it.

Thanks! That's the exact reason for the corners. I'm going to extend them further to make better shelter areas, just ran out of lumber. Plus I've noticed he likes to go to the corners and try to climb out. This would also put a stop to that.

Thanks guys! I have mainly Hosta and pumpkin plants. Half the spot was a garden I tore out the tomato plants and left the pumpkins. He seems to love everything about pumpkin plants. Plus all the weeds growing in that part.

If anyone could recommend some good perennials I'm looking to buy and plant now for next year.

Depending on where you are a Rose of Sharon would be great. This time of year all the baby droppings from it come up nice and fresh low to the ground so he can eat to his hearts content
Hens and chicks are a great treat too and grow like a weed, as dose primrose and the bonus, all of these are pretty to look at.

Quite awesome! What a great idea to do little viewing-lower the blood pressure-relax time benches slash shady areas for your tortoise in the corners.
Your lil helper forgot his/her boots! Long day working on the tortoise pen. Nap time! : )
