Hi all,

A couple days ago I bought a 6 month old baby female red foot. She is my first tortoise so I have been reading everyday to learn more!

She lives indoors. Wondering best ways to keep heat and humidity at perfect levels?

With being new, I would love any tips and tricks (no matter how simple) !

We know that tortoises tend to like to be alone but we have been wondering if Pebble needs a friend. I read a few articles that red footed tortoises have been found in groups in the wild. Also when we bought her, she was with other tortoises.

What would you all suggest?

Thank you in advance! Nice to meet you all!

We are from Rhode Island.

Best way to keep temperatures and humidity is a closed chamber.
Tortoises are solitary animals. They do not need a Friend.
I’ll link some care sheets, Good luck!

Yes.
Do not get your tortoise a friend.
It won't be anything more than an annoyance to your tortoise at best. And at worst, the two will fight until the other is dead.
With a very large outdoors enclosure, sometimes multiple tortoises can live harmoniously.
But never a pair.
You want the enclosure to be from 80 to 86 degrees.
You want UV florescent strip light.
What heating and lighting do you currently have?
Also, its impossible to 100% guarantee a male or female.
I've seen breeders try to determine the sex by incubator temperature, but you still have a 50/50 shot at the sex.

I’d repeat what everyone else said, but it’s the Internet, so I don’t have to! ?

welcome to the forums, soak up as much knowledge as you can, and try not to get too exacerbated by the overeager flooding of help. It can get overwhelming at times. Overall, in my few months here, it’s been a fairly good crowd.
