Hello,
I'm a first-time tortoise owner. I adopted my redfoot, Marci, in June. The "pet store" that I adopted her from was feeding her butternut squash and kale every day for I don't know how long. She also had no access to water, in a 10 gallon tank with nowhere to hide and a heat lamp suspended above her only by about six inches. She was is pretty rough shape (wheezing, plastron rot, moderate pyramiding), but several vet visits later and she is on the mend. I've been doing extensive research since I adopted her, but I figured that joining a forum would be a good support system.
