Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm mom to sulcata Dozer ( short for bulldozer) and my name is Hope and we live in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Welcome to the forum, Hope! We’d love to see a picture of Dozer if you’re ok with sharing that. How old is Dozer and how long has he been part of your family? My tortoises name is Dozer too, but he’s a little Hermann’s tortoise lol.Hi, I'm new to this forum. Your Dozer is very cute, and I completely understand why he has the name he does!! That’s hilarious. I don’t have a good story behind why I chose the name Dozer for my little guy. In my research before bringing him home I kept reading about their personalities and how they can be so stubborn. I also read about how they don’t tend to go around things, but rather through them lol. I thought long and hard about names while I waited to get my tortoise from the breeder. Once I saw his cute little face in a picture the only name that stuck in my head was Dozer. Now he doesn’t have the ability to cause mass destruction like your Dozer does, but my little guy is full of personality and attitude and will make things move out of his way that surprises me.Thanks for the welcome. I'm trying to figure out how old he is. We found him crossing a neighborhood street 8 yrs ago when he was about 6". Dozer is now about 16" and must be over 50 lbs. To big for me to lift....I have to entice him with food to get him where I want him ( no problem...haha) We kept him penned due to our Rottie, but he recently passed, so now Dozer has free range of the yard. We are having a lot of fun learning his amazing personality. I heard him "bark" for the first time this morning. Awesome when he yawns, farts, "flashes", flips mud on his back from his mud hole and follows me to see if I have a treat for him, roses are his favorite in the morning. Glad I found this forum, I have learned so much more that I wish I had known already. Luckily Dozer is healthy and happy in-spite of just my basic minimal knowledge. I hate to say I didn't know to soak him until he made a mud bath and I started researching. Glad to be here and so is Dozer. How did your Dozer get his name? When we first let him free roam he broke into my rose garden , knocked over tables and chairs, got caught under things and scatched up the back door trying to hid in the corner. Yard is now Dozer proofed...haha.
