Hi! I’ve had my 10ish year old Herman’s tortoise for 4 years now. His name is Sheldon. (original right?!) He loves
dandelions, climbing, walks, and his girlfriend, who is a tortoise hide.

I don’t have many good pictures of him (he NEVER stops moving) but here’s one of him eating some clover.

( I know his beak is a bit overgrown and I need to cut it, but I’ve been stalling since it seems scary. Any advice on beak trimming would be helpful. Thanks!)

Sheldon is a russian (testudo horsefieldii
Really?! Finding his breed has been super confusing. The person I got him from said he was a Greek tortoise, but didn’t match that description. He has a large claw on the end of his tail, which I thought only Hermanns have. Do Russians also have a tail claw? Thanks

Yea I'd agree with Yvonne that Sheldon is Russian. The easiest way to tell is to look at the plastron pattern as Russian, marginated, greeks and Hermanns don't share the same pattern. And oh yes Russian likes climbing a lot!!
