Newbie (Please help me I.D. this tortoise)

Hello.So this little fella walked into my house out of the blue.Any idea what type of tortoise this is and am I allowed to keep it.I stay in a built up area with no bushes etc.

That is a bowsprit tortoise - Chersina Angulata

I'm not so sure that is a bowsprit. Will? @Kapidolo Farms

Hard to tell from the one pic. It looks little reddish, but that could be from the local soil. I can't see enough of the rest of it to decide one way or the other.


More pics would help. Can we see the plastron, and the head and limbs?

In any case, here is some care info:

Sure it is @Tom Look at those distinctive triangular marking of the marginals. Carapace colors/markings classic Angulate.
