Hi new to the forum and just wanted to share our wee hermanns table and check that all is ok? Top light is an Arcadia basking light with heat and uva/uvb.

Nice table.
The ramp looks a bit steep from that angle but I'm sure you watch them to make sure your tort isn't tipping backwards or rolling downhill.
It's not a good idea to have two torts in together though because torts are solitary creatures who don't need friends and don't like sharing, so keep an eye on that as one will become dominant and bully the other. Signs to look out for are following, nudging (often confused with 'cuddling' which torts don't do), staring and possibly more physical attacks like barging and biting, If you have a male and female, the male will pester the female to mate. So be prepared to separate if you see any signs because the tort on the receiving end could be having a pretty miserable time of it.

Welcome to the forum. Is your basking light the coil type (CFL) if so you need to get rid of it. It is very hard on their eyes but a pet store will sell you anything. There are very knowledgeable members here and the pinned threads under your species is up to date information.

No it’s not a coil bulb, I know the pet shop took the hand and didn’t give us very good advice at all. Glad to have found this group to be able to do things right for them.

We are building an outdoor enclosure which is divided into two for them so the first signs of aggression or fighting and they will be separated. The pet shop told us they would live together unfortunately, but we are lucky we have enough space to keep them.
When bullying gets aggressive it has already gone too far.
Tortoises are excellent mental bullies. There is always a dominant tortoise and it will use all it can to subtly tell the other tortoise to leave before resorting to aggression. Fighting is risky. No animal will do it unless it has to.
Typical signs that all is not well are:
- The tortoises sleeping next to each other. This is actually one trying to prevent the other from sleeping in the best spot
- Sitting on the food plate - frequently on top of the food - or in the water dish - this simply denies the other tortoise access
- Unequal growth or weight gain.
- One tortoise being “shyer” - less willing to come to you, less active or simply trying to blend in with the background.
There is an awful lot going on long before you see fighting and they should be separated long before you aware of a problem.

Thank you, at the moment one likes to sleep in the top table while the other sleeps in the corner of the bottom one. They each have their own slate to eat of and two separate water dishes. We will keep a very close eye on them and hopefully get them moved into individual outdoor homes as soon as possible.

What a great-looking enclosure! You've done a nice job making a pleasant home for your tortoises. Take temperature measurements all over the whole enclosure to make sure it's as warm as you think it is. It's sometimes hard to warm up the whole thing when it's open-top like that.
