I recently discovered a way to encourage my baby tort to drink more water.

Being a hatchling, he does not like to drink water by himself. I soak him in warm water for 20-30 minutes every day. He only drinks when he’s in his bath tube and barely touches his water bowl in enclosure.

So...to encourage him to intake more water, I put one piece of Mazuri in his bowl and place him in front of the pellet after the daily soak (that way, all the pees and poops are cleared). He smells on it and starts to nibble on it immediately. As he’s eating away Mazuri, he also drinks water, like having soup combo.

I thought it is very cute and wanted to share here.

Very good. One thing that helps is to sink the water dish all the way down into the substrate maybe even a tad below. This way your tort walks about and down into the water dish. Torts done easily find water dishes that are inches above eye level.

Good video. Your tort looks happy.
