Yesterday 3 gals laid for me and two strange things happened! First, Virginia laid only one egg - large but normal shape. Odd for her, she's really consistent and laid 5 in October. I guess she had one left over!

Blondie laid a the egg shown below! Very odd shaped egg!

Anyone know why this happens? Is it a partly formed embryo that the body decides to cover with a shell? Extra calcium? Chances of hatching?

She's a very consistent layer. Her last clutch was in October and she laid 4.

What kind of tortoise laid that egg? I had a forstens tortoise lay an egg that was very similar in shape. It hatched and produced a normal tortoise.

Boob Eggs happen. They produce both normal and deformed hatchlings. There isn't really any correlation between deformed eggs and deformed hatchlings......
