Visted the ojai sulcata project farm today. This family is truly amazing. They rescue hundreds of tortoises and currently have about 50-75 full grown sulcatas and nurse them back to health after abuse, neglect, and injury. Also... they have a pet wolf:p:p

If I had known you were going I would have told you to give Dave a "hello" from me. He's a friend. Glad you had a good time.

Definitely a huge traffic jam!! And the only way to get out is to just crawl over everyone. They had three other hides that were nearly just as big and just as full as this one. We will take more pictures next time. They also house box turtles, black mountains, Russians, Leopards, yellowfoots, and reds/cherryheads.

very cool! Maybe I can start a mega rescue center down here in Louisiana with the 14 acres my parents have lol. I could build the great wall of Louisiana around it.

Nah. You can hold in adult sulcatas with 16". You can go to 24" if you are worried about it.

Pressure treated 2x4 on 8' centers with 24" in the ground and 16-24" above ground, the tack your plywood to that. Voila. Instant sulcata walls. If you go 16", you can get 24' for each plywood sheet.

I guess I will cross that bridge if the opportunity arises. My parents have said they would be open to it eventually so we will see. I don't run across any sulcata rescues down here. I've only been offered one sulcata to rescue from this area and the person ended up keeping it.
